Collective Impact

Large-scale change requires broad cross-sector coordination; no single entity can solve for wildfire risk reduction and watershed resilience alone. WWIRC advances a collective impact model: WWIRC coordinates and catalyzes, while relying on the actions of network members to implement strategies for sustainable funding.

WWIRC is guided by 5 core conditions of the collective impact model:

  • Common Agenda: WWIRC’s mission, goal, and strategies for sustainable funding for wildfire risk reduction and watershed resilience create a common agenda.

  • Shared Measurement Systems: Success is tracked against the $200m/annual statewide need for wildfire risk reduction in priority landscapes.

  • Mutually Reinforcing Activities: Actions of various network members advance key strategies.

  • Continuous Communication: Communications occur through convening, coordination, engagement on policy and funding opportunities, and sharing of successes, challenges, lessons, opportunities, and needs.

  • Backbone Support: Facilitation and organizational support maintain coordination and momentum.
